ABOUT
WHAT IS SMP?Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive treatment that uses micro needles to deposit pigment into the dermal layer of the scalp.
If you are bald and shaved, we create a 5 o'clock shadow to make it appear as if you have a full head of hair but shaved as a choice.
If your hair is thinning overall, we make it appear as if you have much more hair density by darkening the scalp. This is also a great option for women with hair loss.Additionally, SMP is an amazing solution to camouflage scars in the scalp whether they are transplant or accident scars.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is an SMP treatment?SMP stands for Scalp Micropigmentation. SMP is a non-surgical procedure of inserting ink pigments through the dermal layer of the scalp. These pigment dots replicate hair follicles and blend in with the client's skin complexion. Using unique pigments and advanced application techniques, SMP replicates a highly realistic appearance of a close buzzed haircut by deposition of the pigments into the scalp. As mentioned, it is non-surgical and we believe that SMP offers excellent value for money compared to other alternatives such as transplants, and ongoing use of medication or products. How does SMP differ from a traditional tattoo?SMP differs in a variety of ways from traditional tattooing. Firstly, the pigments that we use are specifically designed for SMP and for this process alone. That means the formula we use has no color changing effects after the insertion into the scalp, whereas a general tattoo does change color. Secondly, we use techniques to control the speed and depth of penetration of the needle whereas a general tattoo shop uses traditional coil or rotary machines. SMP is more so of penetration of the ink into the skin in the shallower level than in traditional tattooing. Can SMP disguise scars?Yes, SMP can camouflage and reduce visibility of scars from previous hair transplant surgery. The scale of scar camouflage does not depend on the scar itself; however, with SMP, the scar can be blended in with the surrounding hair where it makes the scar harder to be spotted. How much does the procedure cost? The exact cost of the SMP will vary according to several factors such as size and area of head and scalp requiring attention, the style you require, and the number of sessions needed to perform the procedure. Our average cost is about $3000 (for 3 sessions), but an exact quotation for your needs would be prepared following a no obligation consultation with us. Consultations can be done in person or virtually, whatever you prefer.Does it hurt?Pain tolerance depends on person to person as the level of skin sensitivity varies from person to person. Typically, the majority of our clients have mentioned they experience a mild discomfort, similar to the sensation of a series of small pin pricks. Over the counter pain pills may be taken 20-30 minutes prior to treatments. Will SMP smudge or change color over the years?Any pigments applied to the scalp will eventually fade and lose a shade of color over the years. Additionally, ultraviolet radiation from the sun breaks down the SMP and excessive sweating can cause ink, too.How long are each treatment sessions?First session is between 3-4 hours while the subsequent sessions are about 2-3 hours. Will people notice that I went through scalp micropigmentation? From many testimonies from our clients, they all state no one knew that they went through a SMP treatment. SMP provides a highly authentic look. How will I look after the treatment?Immediately after the first session, you will have great results. There will be some redness for a couple of days. We will provide an aftercare guide on how to maintain the scalp. The redness is natural from the constant poking of the needle from the treatment. For the majority of our clients, three sessions complete the look and we assure that you will look great!Do you have to be over 18 to have SMP treatment? We do not treat anyone under the age of 18 without parental consent. Hair loss is difficult to deal with at any time and can be particularly traumatic when it happens to someone young. However, we feel it is very important for our younger customers to have a full understanding of the process of what’s involved so that they can reach the right decision on what is right for them in the long-term.Does it matter what hair color I have?SMP can be used on all sorts of colors to blend with the natural color of your head. We have a range of pigments that match your hair follicle, taking into consideration skin tone and density. What happens if I go grey? For our short hair clients, this is not a concern. Greyness will not affect the overall look of the style and the existing hair will blend into the treated area. For longer hair clients, we can blend and retouch your treatment if necessary as time passes. What do I need to do to prepare for my first procedure?Non-filler customers are requested to shave their heads to 0 or 1 and moisturize prior to attending their first procedure. There is more info here. What if I change my mind about the style I want after my first procedure? No worries. We suggest you take a little time for any redness to disappear and the color to lighten. If after a few days you still have concerns, we suggest you discuss the issue with us at your next appointment. It is always possible to make changes such as lowering the hairline. As a last resort, you have the security of knowing that there are providers out there to reverse the pigmentation. We have never been asked to reverse one yet, but there is the option to.

SMP BEFORECARE
► Full Stomach:
It is essential that you eat a full meal around one hour prior to your treatment session. It’s okay to bring a sugary snack or a drink to enjoy during your breaks throughout your treatment session.► What to Avoid:
Please try to avoid consumption of alcohol, caffeine or blood thinners (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin) 48 hours before your procedure, to avoid excess bleeding. Our goal is to implant pigment into the skin. Excessive bleeding will push the pigment out.► Pain Management:
If you have a low pain threshold it is highly advisable to seek medical advice from your local pharmacy and make arrangements for pain relief prior to your first session. Tylenol is an example of a non-blood thinning over-the-counter painkiller that could work for your pain management during your treatment. If you choose to take a painkiller, please take 20-30 minutes prior to arriving or bring them as an option as I will not be able to provide you with any painkillers during your treatment.► Wash Hair (Especially Female Clients and Male Filler Treatment Clients):
You will not be able to wash your hair for 4 days after the treatment. For example, if your treatment is on Monday, you will not be able to wash your hair until Friday. Therefore, it is recommended to wash your hair in the morning of treatment.► For Non-Filler (Shaved Length) Male Clients:
Shaving: Please shave your head to a grade 0 (the length required to complete the session) either the night before or the morning of your treatment. If your treatment is a filler treatment and you plan on having your hair long (not shaven), you don’t need to shave prior to treatment.Moisturize: Please moisturize your scalp to optimize the condition of your scalp for the treatment.Bring a Hat: It is okay to wear your hat (not someone else’s) after the treatment. You may want to bring a hat to wear after the treatment. No Sunburn on Scalp: We cannot work on recently sunburnt scalp. If you regularly dye your hair, please note that you will have to wait at least 3 weeks after your treatment to be able to dye your hair again. Please plan accordingly.
